Congratulations to Kathy O'Dell, for being selected as a state finalist. There are 2 math teachers from VA and 4 science teachers that have been selected. There will be 1 math teacher and 1 science teacher from each state chosen as a national winner. This will mean a big cash award ($10,000) and a trip to Washington DC.
As stated on their website, "The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science. Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education."
